What would you do?

Rant warning.

The saga continues with the downstairs animals (I truly cannot call them neighbors, as that would imply that they are people, which they clearly are not). Several mornings ago, we woke to yet another wide open door, left wide open ALL night long. As I am typing now, one of the monsters (one of three, they shipped two over from Brazil a few weeks ago) is outside, banging on the house with a shovel, outside door left open. The father is inside, completely aware of all the noise. Most likely aware of my son crying, but just not caring that his creatures are causing this.

So, I am just stuck. What am I supposed to do? He obviously won’t listen to anything I have to say. But the fact that the door is often left ajar, not unlocked, but wide open, is a huge safety issue. A points out that ‘mentioning’ this to the landlord would make many things worse. While I do not doubt that the people downstairs would in fact react in such a poor manner to us questioning the safety of our house, I still want to do something about it. I can’t just sit by and let the animals with no brain cells downstairs jeopardize the safety of my family.

What the heck am I supposed to do?

Feeling the recession

A few days ago, A called and told me that his company was no longer allowing overtime. While there is always the silver lining (he will be home more now), it’s also a good chunk of money gone. While I feel I am overreacting a bit, searching non-stop for a part time position, thinking of different ways to make some money, it also makes us live more frugally. We are pretty frugal to begin with, but this will just increase over time. Hopefully this overtime mandate does not last for months but if it does, E will get a lot more QT with A. Not something to sneeze at.
