10 months!
Today is E’s 10 month birthday, alas, here are 10 new things for E!
1. He’s kinda started to crawl…’crawl’, he has one knee on the ground and use the leg that is a bit straightened out to push himself along.
2. He says uh-oh. I started saying it when the ball we play with gets too far away, now he has too!
3. He says ‘mama up’…in his own way. I will say it when I go to pick him up and he will attempt to repeat it. Most of the time.
4. He has started to wake up earlier and earlier, both during the night and in the morning…3 and 5:30 anyone??
5. He has started to peer around the sides of his stroller as we walk. He may have been doing this for a while, I’m not sure, but it is so incredibly cute.
6. He walks so well when we are walking with him
7. He also cruises so well…we are scared of what is to come
8. He has gotten to be a bit happier this past month. A much appreciated change.
9. He is such a ham. Anytime anyone whips out a camera, he is glued to it.
10. He’s progressing away from ‘baby food’…at least pureed baby food.
Two more months to a year. I cannot believe it!
9 Months
Yesterday E turned 9 months old…don’t know if I’m setting myself up for failure by continuing the number game with how old E is, but here goes 9 new things for him (hopefully all being the past month).
1. He gives kisses! I say mama kisses and make a kissing noise at him and more times than not he opens his mouth towards my lips…a special kind of E kiss I suppose.
2. He’s standing so well! He switches between hands and sways back and forth holding onto whatever it is he’s holding onto.
3. He’s starting to get the itch to crawl. This isn’t shown through his ‘tummy time’ but rather when he is sitting on the ground, he’s always putting his two hands on the ground in front of him and rocking, although his knees have yet to come under him.
4. He waves…most of time time! It’s really cute.
5. He’s starting to scoot around a little, turn in circles, move a little in one direction.
6. E has started to make some new sounds…some g’s and is more talkative than he used to be…if that’s possible.
7. He plays independently longer…yea…not as long as *some* babes, but longer than he used to.
8. He’s got so many teeth now…he’s up to 4, three of them being the past month!
9. The whole object permanence thing. E will follow an object out of view and fuss if he can’t get at it.
I cannot believe how old E is getting…he’s growing so rapidly, in every way possible.
tired with envy
Envy is one of the 7 deadly sins…why is it that this is what I always feel when I see a baby who is ‘behaving’; not crying, not fussing, not demanding. Sure, people tell me all the time, that’s what babies do, and trust me, I understand.
But when E will not play on his own for 5 minutes, cries for an hour to no avail, regardless of what I do, there’s a little part of me that becomes jealous of the parents who have children who will play independetly, aren’t so darn stubborn and particular, and just let them have a minute here and there.
It all boils down to what I thought being a mother would be…this is not it. I didn’t expect E to drain me this much of all my energy. I was at MJ”s the other day and she was saying she felt badly for letting her son play in his crib for a little while as she rested a bit in her bed. Gosh, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself! E cries loudly if I don’t get him after a couple of minutes.
But, there we go again. I love E for who he is, fussiness and all. Of course, as I am finishing this up, he is waking up, after napping for maybe a half hour. This is how he drains me…I get virtually no time to ‘refuel’ myself before he starts needing constant attention all over again. How I miss those days when he would nap for at least 2 hours a day…
