After not watching an AFI movie for several weeks, we finally buckled down and watched Goodfellas.  It seems that the AFI Top 100 is filled with ‘guy’ movies.  All sorts of shooting, stabbing, overall violent films.

It was good, for a crazy killing film.  But since it was just that, a crazy killing film, it didn’t score so well with K and me.

Our 8th movie of the AFI’s top 100 was The Last Picture Show.  I had no idea this movie was about, but figured it could be no worse than Blade Runner.  I was right.

My end view of this movie was that it was depressing yet entertaining.  Initially I was a bit turned off, but then got involved in the plot.   But it was depressing.  I will probably never watch it again, but did enjoy The Last Picture Show.

My sister and I finished yet another movie of the Top 100. Between her working and going to school, and me being completely exhausted at the end of every day, it’s been more difficult than we thought. We are lucky to get in one a week. But we will continue onward.

Last week we watched Do the Right Thing. It was a pleasant surprise to enjoy another movie on the list. We were a bit reluctant at first as it seemed to flit from character to character and not really have any cohesive plot, but as the story played out, it also came together.

It was one of those films I was happy to have seen. It seems to come up frequently in life and it will be nice to have some background on it.

Our next film, The Last Picture Show. Time had out from library, 12 days…have yet to watch it. Hopefully this weekend we’ll add another check mark to our list.
