Well, Christmas is over. While we still have our tree up, the mayhem is mostly over. I am still recovering and am still exhausted. Hopefully after New Year’s I will be rested and ready to tackle the mess that is our house (seriously, the time after Christmas always seems to be a disaster)…and possibly make a New Year’s resolution.
Holy crap. This is the first year that I have felt tremendous amounts of ’stress’ around the holiday season. Maybe it’s because I usually don’t have too much in way of responsibility or hosting. Well, Sunday evening our friends came over for a late Thanksgiving/present exchange. Last night A’s friend from California came over with his wife, so yet another dinner needed to be prepared. And of course, we are having a total of 9 people for Christmas Eve dinner. Don’t get me wrong, I love planning dinners, hosting people, getting ready. Just three events in four days is a bit much. Not to mention all of the housecleaning that needs to be done. And A is going to a Celts game tonight, so it all falls on me. Yikes.
9 more days until Christmas. I always find myself wondering how the time passed so quickly. We still have much making, wraping, cooking and holiday exploring to do. And only 9 days to do it. I told A I wished we could ‘prepare’ for Christmas for 2 months. It may eventually ruin all the fun, but for the first couple of years it would be awesome.
