More than halfway there

I’m at 21 weeks…more than halfway through this pregnancy. I am truly blown away by how different it has been…not so much physically, but just the whole process. I’m so busy chasing E around that I don’t really even find myself thinking too often of being pregnant. Every once in a while I’ll feel the baby move and it serves as a gentle (soon to be not so gentle) reminder of the impending birth…only 4.5 months to go-yikes.

Well last week I had an Early Risk Assessment appointment at MGH. They did an ultrasound (baby ‘b’ was moving his/her mouth, waving to us), took some blood and we were on our way. I got a call back yesterday that my chances of having a child with a chromosome disorder were 1 in 10,000. I was pretty happy with that (based on my age the average for Down Syndrome was 1 in 856).

But now I’m just patiently waiting for the nausea to go away and to get my energy back. I’m in my last week of my 1st trimester, so here’s to hoping that it’s gone soon!

Morning sickness sucks

Yea…no kidding. But it’s even worse when you have a 17 month old to run after/make sure he doesn’t stick his hands/stuffed animal/whatever it may be in the toilet while you’re vomiting.

I’ve always heard it’s a good sign to have morning sickness…means the baby will stick around. I think it’s the same as saying rain on your wedding day is good luck-you need something to make you feel better!

And of course you don’t remember the nitty, gritty, awful details until you’re living them again. A keeps reminding my how much I said I just wanted to be pregnant again. I guess I just wanted to be pregnant and magically be in the 2nd trimester.
